When deciding to travel there are a number of factors to take into consideration. These include budget, the time of year and who is going. When looking at your travelling budget you must include travel costs such as flights, taxis, bus or coach and trains. You should also include in your costing the price of accomodation and include a rough estimate for how much you can spend on food and entertainment. Remember to always give yourself a bit of leeway for incidentals and accidents. You don't want to be caught short. An absolutely non-negotiable expense is travel and luggage insurance. Depending on the policy, travel insurance can cover medical and hospital costs should you be in an accident, if your flights are cancelled or delayed and alternate accomodation is required or if your luggage is lost. If you are travelling domestically within Australia then you may decide that only some of these items need to be covered by your insurance. If you are travelling overseas you may want comprehensive travel and luggage insurance. Always make sure that you have a copy of the insurance policy with you and leave a copy with a friend or relative along with contact details for yourself and a travel itinerary. This could save much time and stree should anything happen whilst you are away from home. Another must-do before travelling is to check the travel advisories on the Australian Government's Smart Traveller website. This will show all travel warnings and helpful information that you should know before travelling anywhere. You should also register your holiday with Smart Traveller if you are travelling overseas. That way if there are any disasters or any other event that endanger Australian tourists in any country, the Australian Government will know where you are staying and for how long. Taking into consideration all of these costs and guidlines you should be able to enjoy a happy, stress free and safe holiday.
